Plant Description and Operating Era

The Babcock & Wilcox Alliance Ohio Works has served as one of the company’s principal heavy pressure-vessel fabrication sites since the mid-twentieth century, producing large-diameter steam drums, boiler headers, reactor vessels, and other Code-stamped pressure equipment for utility, marine, and nuclear customers. Alliance’s role expanded during the postwar utility-boiler and Naval Reactors buildup, and the plant continued as a Diamond Power / Babcock & Wilcox heavy-fabrication site through the 1980s and beyond. Portions of the complex remain in operation under successor Babcock & Wilcox entities.

At the Babcock & Wilcox Alliance Ohio Works during the U.S. asbestos era (approximately 1920s-1980), plaintiffs allegedly encountered:
